They met their first day of college while attending Mercer University when Hunter first approached Mary Beth and threw his (not so) best pick up line her way in the school cafeteria. Over the passing years walking the campus of Mercer, they would exchange hellos, and stop to catch up with one another more frequently than they had realized.
Mary Beth was sitting in her communications class during senior year, when a familiar face found himself sitting beside her. She thought to herself this was a bit odd – after all, Hunter was majoring in accounting. From that day on, Hunter would walk Mary Beth back to the Alpha Delta Pi house after class and ask her out to dinner (several times) – but each attempt would fall short due to her busy schedule.
Many evenings later, the two sat together in the library to work on their grad school applications. Mary Beth thought she was there to help Hunter with his application – but much to her surprise, he had no intention of pursuing a graduates degree. His only pursuit was Mary Beth’s heart. The evening hours past and over a late meal the two sat and talked over many things, even what they had envisioned in a future spouse. Two weeks later, they made it official, they were dating.
In April of 2015, Hunter took Mary Beth back to her hometown in Augusta, Georgia. As the two strolled hand in hand along the Savannah river, Hunter stopped Mary Beth for a moment to catch a quick photo. He asked her to turn around as he set up the camera, only to surprise her as he got down on one knee to ask her to be his wife.
Mary Beth and Hunter married at Oyster Bay Yacht Club, tucked deep in the marsh preserve of Amelia Island. The sunlight danced around them, and trickled through the Spanish moss hanging overhead. And as the warm summer air brushed through the trees, Hunter and Mary Beth stood under the Florida Oaks hand in hand, promising to love, honor and cherish each other for the rest of their lives.
Mary Beth and Hunter;
You guys. I love the way you love each other with such deep admiration. Side by side, you make others want to love more, to care more, to be more. Your love was a beautiful thing to witness, and document. Thank you…a million times over, for asking to capture and tell a story about a love so beautiful.
