They met, coincidentally, at a wedding. They sat side by side at a table of friends, but struck up a conversations together when they both ordered the same drink – a dirty martini. Later that night, Chris asked about the girl who caught his eye; only to find she was already taken.
Nine months later, Teresa, living in Indianapolis at the time, and Chris living in Denver working as the Head of aircraft acquisitions for Frontier Airlines; their lives had taken them to almost completely different ends of the country. She contacted a friend to recall Chris’s number, and picked up where they had left off, but this time, through text message. Through many more texts the two found they had more in common than they realized, and just a month later, Chris was on a flight to meet Teresa for their first date. Over the course of the next few months, the two found themselves meeting in locations across the United States, such as Denver, Colorado; Daytona, Ohio; Indianapolis, Illinois — simply to enjoy each others company. A year later they planned their first European Vacation together, to a place where Teresa used to live, and work – France.
Teresa had frequently visited Paris during her stays in France, and expressed to Chris that her most favorite spot to tour was Jardin du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Gardens). Upon arrival, the two stopped to marvel in the beauty around them. Chris, who had never attended the gardens before, agreed, it would soon become his favorite spot as well. As they walked through the gardens, the clouds over head started to rumble and they found a spot to sit under a near by palm. Chris grabbed Teresa’s hand as they sat together and reminisced over the memories they shared together. He told Teresa that being with her, he had never been happier. Just then, as the skies opened up and the rain began to fall; Chris fell to one knee and presented Teresa with a ring. Completely in shock, Teresa shook her head “no no no” over and over again – but after the crowds cleared, and shock subsided, Chris gently reminded her he was still waiting an answer — in which she replied an exuberant “yes!” As the rain faded, and the warmth of the suns glow surrounded them, they sat back and enjoyed the beauty of their surroundings and shared in the excitement together of the decision they had just made.
Teresa and Chris were married on a warm summers day at Hammock Beach Resort, in Palm Coast, Florida. As the two stood together exchanging vows, a brisk sun shower fell over them – a gentle reminder from their time in Paris together where there adventure was just beginning. The evening was spent celebrating with their closest family and friends.
Teresa and Chris —
Thank you so much for sharing your love story with us, and asking us to be apart of your grand adventure. Your love and joy is infectious and was radiated throughout those that surrounded you. I cannot wait to see what other grand journeys this road takes you two on – no doubt, they will be marvelous and grand in scale but nothing in comparison to this day. I wish you both nothing but the best, as you walk hand in hand through this new chapter in life, enjoying some “happy lemonade” along the way!
Much Love,
Sara + Chris
