They met online through Hinge during the height of COVID.
Lauren was drawn to his warm smile, and similarly, James was drawn to hers as well. After a few conversations, James took the leap and asked Lauren to come spend the evening with him gazing at Christmas Lights as they drove through Jones Beach. From then on, each date lasted longer into the evening as they spent their days together driving around town, and watching the sunset at the local beaches. Though the world had shut down, they had found their connection with one another.
With every day that passed Lauren was drawn more and more to his kindness, and his willingness to help anyone in need. That warm smile that she first saw along with his drive and determination had a hold of her heart.
After almost a year together, James fell for her kindness and love for him. He always loved her laugh and smile from the start—the way she’d light up when she laughed, but it was her love for him, and how much she respected and loved his family that broke down the walls in heart.
James set a plan in motion, and early in October, they headed to one of Lauren’s favorite places in Long Island: Old Westbury Gardens.
He wasn’t sure his plan was going to work – a hurricane was forecasted to be off the shore that weekend, and the rain and wind were already beating down. Despite the inclement weather, James looked at Lauren, and he knew in that moment, it didn’t matter…he wanted to spend his forever with her.
A place that held so much meaning to Lauren, was about to become even more memorable for the both of them, as James knelt down and asked Lauren to be his wife. And of course she said yes! It was an answer she had known in her heart since their love began sitting on that beach many months ago.
