Early morning stillness. Chris and I sat waiting on the side of the road in front of a long trail that led back into the woods – the grass was still wet, and all around was quiet – but not for long! Down the road in the distance we could see them coming on their “buggy”… Amy + Jimmy, both cruising along laughing and enjoying the music they had playing. They looked right at home together as they pulled up to meet us.
Amy + Jimmy were the winners of a contest I held at the beginning of the year – “The great engagement giveaway.” As time got closer to the engagement shoot, I knew I wanted to do something different with these two. What started as a simple idea to meet in St. Augustine and shoot a few photos, changed quickly when I saw their love of fishing and playing around in the mud together. We knew that it just wouldn’t be feasible to shoot two completely different style shoots in the same day, so we decided it was best to break it up over the weekend into two parts.
Amy + Jimmy have dated since high school (and did I mention we all went to HS together, too?) That’s over 10 years that they have been together! In 2012, while visiting NY Jimmy popped the question to Amy; and of course, she said yes! Now, Amy is finishing up school and they have set the date for September of next year.
I couldn’t be more excited to share their photos with you – I think it captures their personality perfectly and what they love to do together!
So – here’s a peek at part ONE of Jimmy and Amy’s backwoods engagement. 😉
Enjoy!
